"The Shining" follows the story of Jack Torrance, an aspiring writer and recovering alcoholic, who takes a job as the winter caretaker of the remote Overlook Hotel in Colorado. Jack sees this as an opportunity to focus on his writing while spending quality time with his wife, Wendy, and their young son, Danny, who possesses psychic abilities known as "the shining." As the Torrance family settles into the isolated hotel, strange and sinister events begin to unfold. Danny's psychic abilities allow him to see the hotel's dark history and the malevolent spirits that haunt its corridors. Meanwhile, Jack's mental state deteriorates under the influence of the hotel's malevolent forces, exacerbating his inner demons and driving him to the brink of madness.
